Special Announcement from the Huebners

Greetings from hot, dry, dusty…but beautiful Kenya.

In the Southern Hemisphere we are nearing the end of the summer months and are looking forward to the rain and planting season. In the Huebner family, we are nearing the end of a 3-year commitment to Rohi and are looking forward to a new season.  We wanted to write to you personally and tell you that while we are very happy in our roles at Rohi and we feel our mission has been a great success, we also feel God leading us on a different path.

Rohi has now entered its 7th year of operation. What started as a small home and school with just 45 boys has expanded to include a primary school, a high school, and almost 300 children. It is an amazing testimony of what God can do through willing people.  And Rohi has prospered greatly during our stay…not because of us but because of Him.

Between now and the end of July (when our son Brian graduates from Rift Valley Academy), our plan is to help transition Kenyans into our positions and responsibilities.  Then in August we will head home for some much needed rest and relaxation; a furlough if you will.  At that time we also plan to establish a small ‘home base’ from where we can continue working in the missions ministry.  We will share more information about what we will be doing next as we get closer to our departure from Rohi.  We will tell you this though.  God has really placed a burden for girls and young women on our hearts for the last couple of years.  Our future plans will include ministry to the often forgotten girls in the third world.  Look for more about this in the near future.

For now, we want to thank you for the opportunity to serve on your behalf.  We also want to remind you that we’re not gone yet.  Please keep your support (both financial and spiritual) coming.  We will need it more than ever in the future months.  We have loved our work and we love the Kenyans that we work with.  We will miss this place more than you can know, but we look forward to what doors the Lord will open next.

May God bless you and keep you,

Denny, Susan, Brian, and Anna Huebner

Note from Pastor Steve Madsen, Rohi Board Chairman and Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Fellowship

This coming July, Denny and Susan Huebner (and their son Brian and daughter Anna) will wrap up and complete three incredible years of service to the Rohi Children’s organization in Nakuru, Kenya.  The Lord has touched and blessed many through the Huebners’ many sacrifices and their servant’s hearts.  We are deeply grateful and appreciative of their dedicated service and spiritual impact which began in 2006 and will continue on even as Denny and Susan transition into a new season of their ministry lives.  Their gifting and efforts have helped to strengthen Rohi’s operations and positioned Rohi to succeed in carrying out its vision for the future.  Join with us in honoring the Huebner family and lifting them up in prayer as they discover both God’s will and direction in the months ahead.

Consistent with Rohi missionary practices, we want to note that for those of you who financially support the Huebners, it is a customary practice for missionaries returning from the field to continue receiving support for approximately three months. This transitional support will help with costs as they resettle and evaluate new ministry roles.  In the case of the Huebners, this is anticipated to be through the end of October 2009.  Cornerstone will be helping the Huebners through this time of transition and change; we hope that you will be able to do so as well.  Thank you again for being a key part of the Huebners’ ministry and God’s work in Kenya.
